This beautiful village is a place where time seems to have stood still. See how the Alpbach Valley forefathers, the ‘Altvorderen’ lived on a visit to the Museum of Tyrolean farmhouses. Imagine their life as you explore the sawmill, threshing floor and the two chapels. Head further afield and take advantage of the FREE guided tour of nearby Rattenberg. Imagine the swords and soldiers as you stroll through the castle’s stoney ruins. In the 16th century this was one of the most important fortresses in the Lower Tyrolean Valley. Explore the keep, castle foundations, stables and storerooms. In the upper parts of the castle, find the remnants of the main gun tower and the four smaller angle towers and envisage them towering over the town.
