Activities in St. Wolfgang

St. Wolfgang

Culture

Take a step back in time and experience an idyllic Austrian lakeside village at its best. A horse and carriage ride is the best way to explore the surrounding area, stop for lunch at one of the farms along the way, sampling the local produce including the locally brewed 'most', Austrian scrumpy cider.

Enjoying St. Wolfgang's musical history is a must, the most famous example is the 1897 operetta the 'White Horse Inn', based around the hotel of the same name, alongside regular concerts and performances in the village. Bi-weekly during high season the village comes alive with the 'Summer Nights' festival. Musicians and performers will entertain you into the night as they play throughout the whole of the village centre.

The pilgrimage church is well worth a visit, dating from the 10th century and built by the Saint from who the village is named after. The centrepiece, a winged altarpiece designed by Michael Pacher was added in the 15th century.

Take a gentle spin on a pedalo or try your hand at waterskiing, alternatively sit in one of the many lake terrace cafés enjoying a drink and ice cream, marvelling in the spectacular scenery laid out before you.
