Lake Geneva Regional Flavours Discovery

The majestic Alps form a stunning backdrop for the sunlit shores of Lake Geneva. Terraces of vineyards cover the foothills, where half hidden picturesque villages lay waiting for you to discover their delights. This is a 7 night independent tour starting on a Saturday, staying in the quaint lakeside market town of Vevey. The itinerary of excursions we have organised is designed to show off the foods and wines for which the Lake Geneva region is famous for.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 (Sat) – Dublin to Geneva
Arrival at Geneva airport and train transfer to the Hotel Rene Capt in Montreux.

Day 2 (Sun) – Free day
A day to find your feet and explore the lovely town of Montreux. Why not start your food and wine experience with a trip to Vevey and the Alimentarium food museum (entry fee not included).

Day 3 (Mon) – Rochers de Naye
After a journey to remember on the rack railway, the view from the peak of Rochers de Naye is breathtaking. The Rambertia Alpine Gardens await visitors with over 800 alpine plants.

Day 4 (Tues) – Boat trip to Château de Chillon
Your boat departs Montreux for the lakeside castle Château de Chillon. Not only is this castle a medieval wonder piece it also boasts its own vineyard. The tangy white wine is sold exclusively at the castle and helps to fund the up keep of this popular tourist attraction. The wine is an ideal aperitif, good with fresh fish or the local gruyère cheese (entry not included but half price with Riviera Card).

Day 5 (Wed) – Free day
Free time to do as little or as much as you’d like. Our suggestion, take a short train ride to Chexbres and take the Route de la Corniche through the middle of these UNESCO World Heritage vineyards to the village of Cully. Here you will be able to taste some of the fabulous wines on offer before taking a boat or train back to Montreux (local travel charges apply).

Day 6 (Thurs) – Chocolate train
Travel 1st class in authentic ‘Belle Epoque’ train carriages returning Montreux-Gruyères-Broc. Coffee and croissant breakfast included, as is admission to the cheese factory in Gruyères and Gruyères Castle. On to the Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory with a tour and chocolate tasting! (not available before 29th May,)

Day 7 (Fri) – Trip to Gstaad
Take a trip to the culinary town of Gstaad. Experience the grandeur of Gstaad and enjoy lunch (extra cost) in this pretty alpine town.

Day 8 (Sat) – Geneva to Dublin
Train transfer from Montreux to Geneva for your flight back to your Dublin airport.
