Lucerne

Culture

Take your time strolling over the Chapel Bridge, between the rafters you will find paintings depicting the region's history. The riverside promenade has many tempting restaurants and bars to enjoy a bite to eat. Cut up from the river into the old town to find narrow passageways and a historic alfresco painted square.
Lucerne has an abundance of history to discover. As well as churches, defensive walls and bridges, the most poignant has to be the Lion Monument. The stone carving of a mortally wounded lion commemorates the lives of the Swiss Guard massacred during the French revolution.
Lucerne is however more than just a city of history, the modern feel of the KKL concert hall and art gallery and the expansive Transport Museum are the perfect contrast.
Weggis is a great place to get away from it all, its flower decked lake promenade is perfect to stroll along or to just sit and admire the views, facing west the sunsets can be magnificent.

Why not try -

  • A concert at the KKL - its modern acoustic technology creates an unforgettable experience
  • Taking a trip on the lake and visit the pristine Rütli meadow - the birth place of Switzerland
  • Combining a half day trip to the transport museum with a visit to Lucerne's lido - they're neighbours
