Wengen is a traffic free village set on a sunny plateau overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley and has the Jungfrau as a backdrop. It is full of colourful chalets and is the ideal destination for a relaxing family holiday. Getting around is easy on the efficient network of cable cars and mountain railways, which open up some wonderful mountain scenery. The only way to reach Wengen is by a 15 minute ride on the scenic mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen which then continues up to Kleine Scheidegg, through the north face of the Eiger to the Jungfraujoch, Europe's highest railway station. Traditional geranium decked chalets are spread across the village, along with colourful shops, cafés, terrace restaurants and local stublis in the main street. Grindelwald is at the head of the valley that meets the Eiger and Wetterhorn.
